Today we snorkeled at a spot identified on the Explorer Chart as a Coral Reef Study area. It was quite impressive - many kinds of coral (brain, lettuce, fan, needle and mushroom coral), lots of fish -blue, purple, yellow, green, silver, black & white, one turtle, a huge lobster and a SHARK! We had only been in the water a few minutes when Mike pointed to his left (which was the side I was on!), and there it was swimming along the bottom just a few feet away, literally 4-5 feet over and 10 feet down. We each had a line in our hands attached to our dinghy which was simply floating along with us, as we were about 300 feet from shore. I quickly pulled myself closer to the dinghy. We both popped our heads out and Mike said it had continued swimming and was no longer in sight. We then continued our snorkeling and did not see him again. Phew.

Later we got out at Leaf Cay where the pink iguanas live (the place we chose not to go ashore a couple of days ago). There were at least 100 of them on the beach today. They are creepy - pink gullets and bellies, so prehistoric. A small tour boat with vacationers from the Sandals Resort on Great Exuma Island were there feeding them grapes.

More swimming when we returned to High Hopes, followed by a delicious dinner (grilled mahi, the last from our fishing with the Rawes in February).

I foolishly left our underwater camera in Buffalo last September. Next trip!
