We left Port Everglades (Fort Lauderdale) at first light on Sunday, March 14. It's now Wednesday, March 31, I will post a few photos rather than try to capture what we've done in the two + weeks (as we know, a picture is worth a thousand words!). Lots of swimming, snorkeling, hiking, water aerobics, volleyball and dinghying around. We've met many wonderful people, both Bahamians and fellow cruisers, mostly Americans and Canadians. Our first night in Little Bay on Great Guana Cay was by ourselves in an exquisite anchorage! The next 2 days a few mega yachts joined us with their inflatable slides, jet skis, beach chair/umbrella set-ups and staff who went off to town each morning for fresh flowers! Great reef in this bay, schools of angelfish, parrotfish, butterflyfish, gorgeous blues, yellows, oranges, black and white.

We spent another day at Black Point Settlement, met a couple from Oregon while having dinner at Lorraine's. This was very fortunate for me as I had developed a nasty toothache and the husband of this team was a doctor who gave me a laser treatment to start healing and ease the inflammation. High Hopes left for George Town, Great Exuma Island the next day to see a dentist. This was the only day a dentist would be available until April 16 (or get back to the States which wasn't a desirable option). A talented Dr. Bazard took care of my problem. Relief!

I rented a car to get to the dentist. Afterward, Mike and I drove to the far end of the island and did a pub crawl back to George Town. This was lots of fun, meeting mostly locals and a few Americans at various spots. Notice in one pic, a very happy bartender named Aaron. Mike gave him a $20 Bahamian bill to cover our $17 tab (2 drinks with VAT and 15% tip included), and told Aaron to keep the change, happily upping the tip to 35%. Well, turns out that Mike was confused about the color of the Bahamian bills and had given him a $50 bill. Aaron's tip jumped to over 250%! Hehe, with the slow economy due to Covid, locals have been struggling so we're happy to help!
